Scottsdale Staycation

For Christmas McKane gave me a Scottsdale staycation. Coincidentally, Jill and Charlie gave McKane and I 48 hours of continuous babysitting for Christmas (Best. Gift. Ever.)! We combined the two and had a great little getaway right before New Years Eve.
It was so nice to go out to eat (Caraba's) and not have to worry about hurrying home for the babysitter. The hotel was super nice and had lots of cool surrounding Christmas lights. This huge tree was so cool at night- all lit up and dancing to music.

It is pretty annoying being awoken at 7:30am hearing voices right outside your room. It wasn't until the morning that we realized the sound from the hallway carried into our room so LOUD! We were in a 5 star hotel and could hear every footstep, whisper, luggage moving along the walkway outside, etc. Ugh. To top it off the fire alarm went off at 8am. After getting up and packing up our stuff to evacuate, the alarm turned off. At that point we were wide awake and realized this would not be a sleep-full staycation (one of the biggest reasons McKane planned it). So annoying.

McKane called the front desk and they offered to give us complimentary parking for the night. Really? Thank you (said sarcastically). McKane complained about their meager offer and then they threw in breakfast as well. At first I thought that was cheap too, but when I looked at room service and saw breakfast was $30 per person, I thought it was more fair. :)

We ordered a $65 couples 3 course meal that was delicious (but I would have never ordered it if it wasn't on the hotel- who pays that for breakfast?). It also came with 4 small danishes, orange juice, and two glasses of wine (which I'm sure the bathroom sink enjoyed). Overall- really yummy meal. Worth $65? No. Worth being woken up early and not getting as much sleep? Heck yes.

After eating breakfast and watching some Jersey Shore (I know, who watches that? We had never seen it but were sucked in to it's ridiculousness, haha) we went out on the town for some shopping. We hit up Nordstrom's Rack and H&M before booking it back to Mesa to pick up the kids.

We only used 24 of our 48 hour babysitting credit from Charlie and Jill and I'm already planning out how to use the other half- it was so fun to get away and spend time with McKane.
