Beckam came to me the other day saying 'Mom, I am going to write a letter to santa and I'm gonna get a pencil and paper.' I said that that was a great idea and left him to his own devices.
A few minutes later he came in and asked me for a reminder of what the r looks like. I drew it for him on a little stickie note, then after a few minutes went to check on him. He had spelled Der Santa, on the paper already. He then proceeded to write the remainder of the letter (phonetically sounded it out and wrote it down) mostly independent. He asked me what the w looked like and said- is it okay if I just write an m? Haha. He also needed help with the numbers (100 and 59).
Beckam has never been a big lover of writing/coloring but just recently he's taken an interest in it. It's so cute to see him learning and progressing in various areas of development. And to see him sound out/write his first letter just about melted me :)
Now to convince Santa he needs 159 zoobles. . .

"Der Santa, I wont (want) a 100 and 59 zooblebs"
(The a in santa is backward and the z in zoobles is backward. He also ran out of room writing zoobles so he put the l on the line above, and the s (along with an additional b) up at the top of the paper).

I wish I could see those better, that is amazing! Such a smart one, that boy. Maybe he can teach Luthien some of his skills when we are there. Still chipping away at initial phonemes and letter recognition with that girl, she is soooo not interested! Oh well :)
